Safety Isn't a Policy. It's How We Work.
For 45+ years, every job we've completed has started with the same question: how do we do this safely? Our health and safety program isn't a binder on a shelf — it's the daily practice of every technician on every site, every day.

OUR COMMITMENT
A Promise to Every Building We Enter
When we step onto your property, we carry the responsibility for our team, your tenants, your building, and the public around it. That responsibility doesn't get delegated, ignored, or rushed. It's why we built this company, why our clients have stayed with us for decades, and why every Burban technician follows the same standard — whether the job takes 30 minutes or 30 days.

OUR APPROACH
Four Pillars of Safe Operations
Every safety decision we make traces back to one of these four principles.
People First
Our technicians, your tenants, and the public are protected before any task begins. No job is worth a preventable injury.
Continuous Training
Every technician completes ongoing certification, refresher courses, and equipment-specific training throughout their career.
Pre-Job Assessment
Every site visit starts with a hazard assessment. Risks are identified, communicated, and controlled before work begins.
Documentation
Every incident, near-miss, and corrective action is recorded and reviewed. We learn from every event, no matter how small.
VERIFIED & ACCREDITED

Don't take our word for it. Burban's safety program is verified and accredited by Canada's leading regulatory and certification bodies.

DAILY PRACTICE
What Safety Looks Like on Every Job
These are the procedures our technicians follow on every site visit — not just high-risk jobs.
Pre-job hazard assessment
Every visit starts with a documented site walkthrough to identify risks before any work begins
Lockout/tagout procedures
Electrical and gas systems isolated and locked before any service work is performed
Fall arrest systems on rooftops
Harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points used on every rooftop job, regardless of duration
Refrigerant recovery protocols
Certified refrigerant handling and recovery procedures, fully compliant with Ontario environmental regulations
Building staff coordination
Security, concierge, and property management notified of access, work scope, and timing before arrival
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Hard hats, safety glasses, fall protection, and task-specific PPE worn without exception
Working-at-heights certification
All rooftop technicians hold current working-at-heights training as required by Ontario law
WHMIS compliance
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training for all technicians handling refrigerants and chemicals
Coordinated crane operations
Detailed lift plans, qualified riggers, and exclusion zones established before any rooftop unit is moved
Tenant disruption planning
Work scheduled to minimize impact on building occupants, with clear communication before and during the visit
FOR PROPERTY MANAGERS
Why Our Safety Standards Protect Your Building
When you bring a contractor onto your property, your liability is on the line. An injured worker, a damaged tenant space, or an incident on your roof can become your problem fast. Choosing a contractor with verified safety credentials isn't just a checkbox — it's risk management.
Reduced liability exposure
WSIB coverage and full insurance protect you from worker compensation claims

The Cost of Choosing the Wrong Contractor
WHY IT MATTERS
✓ Annual ContractorCheck re-verification

✓ Monthly WSIB clearance updates

✓ Continuous TSSA license renewal

✓ Documented incident reporting
One uninsured worker. One missing WSIB clearance. One unreported incident on your roof. The financial and legal exposure can be substantial — and it's almost always preventable by choosing a properly credentialed contractor from the start.
